Description

HARLEY DAVIDSON TYPE 18 ATTELÉE

French title from 1925
Frame n° 18T10276

This machine is certainly one of the many Harley-Davidsons sent to Europe when the United States entered the war from April 1917. At the time, such an "olive drab" sidecar did not go unnoticed. With its almost 1000cc overhead V-twin developing around 15bhp, mated to a three-speed gearbox and an appreciated robustness, the Harley-Davidson Type 18 (here in "magneto" version) was a mechanical monster those days, when most European motorcycles were small displacement machines. Absent from the photos, the primary chain cover and the left running board will be supplied with the motorcycle. With its registration and its original sidecar, this century-old machine is a great restoration project for a discerning collector.
