Gilera was founded in 1909 in Milan by Giuseppe Gellera; after the First World War it began to build a 500cc model, a single-cylinder 4-stroke with side valves with which it won several races, truly excellent publicity and in fact, with the growth of orders, production was then transferred from Milan to Arcore thus becoming a large and modern company in all respects._x000D_
This model, called SS, was equipped with a frame in round steel tubes and a front suspension with a parallelogram with a central spring, while the rear was rigid._x000D_
