Description

The Scrambler models were mainly intended for the American market, but there were many reasons for its commercial success also in Europe.
First, the exceptional chassis (it was even used for track racing, which has probably never happened before in motorcycling history) and then the engine tailored to its function.
It was certainly not the fastest bike of its time, but its overall performance and perfectly centered riding position made it one of the most enjoyable and manageable bikes of the period.
In addition, it was extremely elegant, with its rounded lines, classic and modern together and the bright colors contrasting with the black chassis and the chrome tank.
The colors varied according to the versions and displacements: yellow, orange, black, red, blue, white and green, always combined with a black frame and swingarm.
Finally, the quality of the materials used by Ducati at the time for the production of the engines was excellent, certainly among the best on the national scene.
The first displacement to be marketed was the 250, but a year later the 450 cc version made its appearance, which soon became the best-selling of the three available, since in the meantime the 350 was also released. set up with traditional distribution, but on request, with a slight surcharge, it was possible to have the most prestigious Desmo head.
The chassis setup was the same for all models: single cradle frame in steel tubes, drop tank with chrome portions on the sides, long telehydraulic fork, double shock absorbers, drum brakes (180mm in front and 160mm in rear) and spoked wheels, respectively 18 "at the rear and 19" at the front.
The Ducati scrambler went out of production in 1974.
The Scrambler was universally considered as the meeting point between the American and European motorcycling schools, an extremely fashionable bike, still very popular today.
