Description
• BMW’s first “superbike”
• Fast and usable
The BMW R 90 S was to all intents and purposes a revolutionary motorbike for the House of the Helix as it combined the concept of touring and sports motorbikes in a single vehicle. Compared by many to the renowned R 50 S and R 69 S, the R90 S combined the pleasure of a true grand tourer with the rage of a thoroughbred superbike. Designed by Hans Muth (who would later go on to design the legendary Suzuki Katana) and distinguished by two unique colours, the R90 S was an epoch-making bike: exclusive, fast and above all reliable, it was one of the protagonists of the Maxi era of the 1970s.
The bike on offer has been part of the same collection of a Roman enthusiast for several years. Always used regularly, it is offered for the first time at auction.
