• Comprehensive Restoration in 2021 Which is Ready to Ride or Show
The 1952 BMW R67/2 offered here by Animoya Garage is a comprehensive nut and bolt restoration cutting absolutely no corners in the process. The result is one of the nicest BMW motorcycle restorations we’ve ever handled.
Originally taken apart over 40 years ago by Dickenson BMW in Johnson Creek, NY, the bike, while still in pieces, would change hands several times over the course of 4 decades. In 2021, the R67/2 was acquired by the consignor, who immediately got to work sorting and cataloguing all of the parts on hand so correct replacement parts could be ordered and the restoration process could commence.
Restoration began with the motor. According to the consignor, the bottom end had been rebuilt by a well-known BMW mechanic. For the sake of thoroughness, he dismantled it anyway to assure himself the work was done to his standards. He ended up installing new seals and gaskets in the motor and sourced a brand new clutch and flywheel. The motor also had the cylinders media blasted, painted, and had new pushrod tubes installed as well as brand new Schmidt pistons sourced from Germany and fitted to their correct tolerances. The heads were then cleaned, media blasted, and coated before receiving new Kibble White valves and guides. The transmission had also been rebuilt, and under the consignors care has new seals and gaskets added for completeness. Additionally, at this time, all of the parts needing to be polished and rechromed were sent out to be completed.
Today, this BMW R67/2 presents in immaculate condition and is a rare opportunity to experience one of these legendary bikes as they were brand new off the showroom floor. Not a single nut or bolt was left alone during this restoration and each step was taken to the absolute extreme. It is quite rare to see this level of dedication and care go into a project. The next caretaker will be thrilled to add this to their collection whether it's purely for display or for actual use.
