World Premiere - Spada TS Codatronca

A new sportscar has been launched by Spadaconcept, the design studio established last year in Turin. The Spada TS Codatronca, so named because it claims to “represent the latest evolution of the truncated tail”, reflects the traditions of an Italian carrozzeria by combining grand touring car characteristics with race-bred elements of design.

Nimbleness, good aerodynamics and lightness are high on Spadaconcept’s priority list, and are qualities which the company calls “the chromosomes of Ercole Spada’s cars”. The well-known designer Ercole Spada is the man who put his name to such classics as the Alfa TZ, TZ2 and Aston Martin DB4 GTZ “for his friend Elio Zagato”. It is Ercole’s talent, together with his son Paolo (a former designer at Smart and Honda) and young designer Wojtek Sokolowski, who provides the creative force behind the new company.

The new model is based on a Corvette chassis and will be built in very limited numbers. Three versions are planned: the entry-level TS and TSV both offer 512bhp, while the TSS promises 700bhp. With a weight of 1400kg, this top-end model is expected to manage the 0-62mph sprint in 2.7 seconds.
