Wörthersee 2009: Audi Q5 custom concept

A new interpretation of the Audi Q5 SUV featuring a power-enhanced 3.0-litre TFSI petrol engine delivering a mighty 408PS will be one of the stars of the 2009 Wörthersee Tour (20-23 May), Austria’s now legendary GTI enthusiasts’ meet.

Star exhibit of the twenty vehicles on the Audi stand will be the purpose-built Audi Q5 custom concept. Finished in custom matt Daytona Grey, this test-bed for Audi Genuine Accessories rolls on 21in twin-spoke design alloys and features a 90mm wider track and a 60mm lower ride height than the standard Q5. Power of the supercharged 3.0 TFSI V6 has been increased to 408PS, allowing the Q5 custom concept to accelerate from 0-62mph in 4.4 seconds with a governed top speed of 155mph.

Among the other Audis showcasing at Wörthersee are both the coupe and roadster versions of the new 340PS Audi TT RS and the new top-of-the-line R8, the 525PS 5.2-litre FSI Quattro, which can sprint from zero to 62mph in 3.9 secs and carry on to 196mph. The GT3 race version of the R8, the 500PS R8 LMS, will also be on display, as will the small five-door four-seat hybrid-powered A1 Sportback concept. This A1 is equipped with a 150PS 1.4 TSFI engine aided by a 27PS electric motor that can deliver an additional 150Nm of torque. Despite 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 124mph, it still manages 72.4mpg (combined) with CO2 emissions of just 92g/km.
