As coups go, this was a big one. The manufacturer of the ‘new’ Lancia Stratos has got Ferrari Chairman Luca di Montezemolo behind the wheel of its soon-to-revealed supercar at none other than the Fiorano test track.
The short video – with few words other than a “well done on the technical point of view...” from Montezemolo – shows the Ferrari V8-powered car driven by the Chairman, accompanied by the German prime mover behind the project, Michael Stoschek.
Montezemolo is no stranger to the hot seat of a high-performance Lancia as, in the early 1970s, he was briefly a member of the HF Squadra Corse team. The famous Stratos rally car hit the heights of competition success in the mid-70s at the same time as the now Chairman of Ferrari was running the Maranello company’s Formula One operation.
