The 2007 Tour Auto Lissac will start from the birthplace of the Paris Salon; the Grand Palais. Nearly 230 cars of the types that ran in the original are entered in what looks like being a truly classic Tour, that this year finishes in Evian

On the morning of the 23rd of April, scrutineering will take place in Grand Palais, a well known building famous for its high-dome glass, iron and steel roof. Members of the public can view this inspection from 11 to 18h30 (for a small entry fee). Built for the 1900 World Fair, in 1901 it welcomed the first ever Motorshow and was to remain as the annual showcase for the most beautiful cars in the world up until 1961.

The Tour Auto Lissac is one of two or three major international motoring events that are a 'must-see' for all classic car enthusiasts. Since 1992 it has brought together over two hundred of the most beautiful cars, from Aston Martin, Alfa Romeo, Ferrari and many other famous manufacturers, all from owners living in the four corners of the world.



The combination of ‘special stages’ - timed sessions on closed roads or race circuits - and road sections on open roads, is one of the key ingredients to the success of the event. So as to keep things interesting for the competitors, the route of the Tour Auto Lissac is changed each year. An expertly chosen itinerary brings together the beauties of the French countryside, exciting motoring, gastronomy and all while avoiding the motorways and in complete respect for the French Driving Code when on the road

Paris - Evian : Five days of fast motoring

The start, on the Tuesday morning, will be the grand send-off for the 2007 Tour Auto Lissac, which will finish for the first time in the historic town of Evian near the Swiss border on Saturday 28th April.

An outstanding itinerary, exceptional chateaux, and the most exciting circuits in France: nothing is left to chance for this sixteenth edition of the rally, a retrospective of the "Tour de France Automobile" and one of the three great historic motoring evnts in the world.

Dates and Itinerary:

Scrutineering : Grand Palais, 23 April
Start : Grand Palais 24 April
Finish: Evian 28 April
Circuits : Le Mans, Le Vigeant, Albi, Charade.
The special stages on the route will be announced in due course.

Eligible cars

Nearly 230 cars, of the types that competed in the original event from 1951 to 1973, have been provisionally accepted, split into two categories -

Regularity -

In "Regularity", it is not speed that is the determining factor, but regularity. In the timed stages, entrants will during practice, choose a time to match in a pre-chosen time bracket according to the times of the cars in ‘Competition’. They must remain within it to avoid being penalised.

Competition -

This category puts together the "Véhicules Historiques de Compétition" (VHC) constructed before 1966 and the G/H/I periods. Teams and cars must meet the requirements of the FIA’s sporting code, Appendix K. This time it is about pushing the limits, this is pure racing so it's necessary to go as fast as possible, as the stopwatch is always running.
