Testing, Testing: Aston Martin One-77 Hits 220mph

It might be the festive season but development and final proving of Aston Martin’s 700bhp supercar doesn’t stop. The company has revealed that the exciting machine has been 'comfortably breaking the 200mph mark' in testing.

Orders have been steadily coming into Gaydon and prospective purchasers will have to get a move on before the magic ‘77’ figure is reached, and the very limited edition is sold out.

The car, composed primarily of carbonfibre and exotic metals, is powered by a 7.3-litre version of the company’s V12, heavily developed by Cosworth.

During top-secret testing at a proving ground in southern Europe, a One-77 prototype recorded a 220.007mph (354.86km/h) maximum speed.

Deliveries are expected to commence in Summer 2010.
