The Historic Marathon race at the 38th AvD-Oldtimer-Grand-Prix (13-15 August 2010) was won by Team Classic Driver’s 1964 Ford Fairlane. The drivers, ‘Fred’ and ‘Barney’ from Griesheim, secured victory on the challenging Nürburgring circuit after a thrilling duel with the Jaguar E-type of the Gotcha Historic Racing Team, taking first place at the end of the 3.5-hour race.
These two teams dominated the entire race but it was Team Classic Driver that led from the beginning, having taken pole position in the timed practice. Despite the neck-and-neck racing, ‘Fred’ and ‘Barney’ held onto the lead and took the chequered flag with an average speed of 142km/h – and the fastest lap of the race at 10min 20.672seconds.
There were 73 starters in this demanding event, so huge congratulations are due to ‘Fred’ and ‘Barney’ from everyone at Classic Driver!
