During the week of 19th to 25th September, more than 25 Ferraris from the 1950s and 1960s gathered in the Piemonte region for the 2005 edition of the Italia Classica, where the cars were driven in fine weather along picturesque winding roads with spectacular views in this historic wine-producing area of Italy.
Examples of the cars invited to the event included 250 California Spiders, 250 SWBs, 250 GTOs and 275 GTBs, both in 2- and 4-cam form including a NART Spider.
Three 275 GTB/4s were selected to be invited on to the event including chassis 10017 [the dark blue car OVV 4 you can see in the photos below - Ed], entered by John and Susan Mayston-Taylor, which was returning to be driven in Italy for the first time since it was collected from the factory by its original owner in June 1967.
Visits together with lunches and dinners were held at a number of historic castles including the Castello di San Martino Alfieri and Castello di Guarene.
Other highlights during the tour included visits to the Italian automotive design houses of Giugiaro and Pininfarina, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary with their Maserati 75th Anniversary Birdcage concept car on display.
Joining the Ferraris on this exclusive invitation-only tour were also examples of other marques including Maserati, Aston Martin and Alfa Romeo.
