Rocking and Racing at the 2012 Silverstone Classic

Tickets for the 2012 Silverstone Classic (20-22 July) have now gone on sale, with discounted ‘Early Bird’ tickets available in good time for Christmas.

The event aims to build on the success of last year’s event which, with more than 80,000 spectators, 7,000 classic road cars and over 120 car clubs – not to mention 1,100 race entries – was claimed by the organisers to be “the world’s biggest classic motor racing festival”.

In 2012, the grids will feature Grand Prix cars from the dawn of front-engined Formula One in the 1920s and 30s right up to the DFV rear-engined cars of the 1980s. Le Mans sportscars will also be out in force, from the celebrated Ferraris, Aston Martins and Jaguars of the 1950s and 1960s up to the powerful turbocharged Group C prototypes of the 1980s and 1990s. Plus, of course, a wide range of other GTs, single-seaters and Touring Cars spanning more than 70 years of motorsport history.

As usual, the festival will also offer a line-up of classic rock and pop bands, performing live on the Friday and Saturday evenings. Adam Ant and Mike and the Mechanics will top the bill, with other high-profile acts to be confirmed at a later date.
