Robert de Niro to play Enzo Ferrari in forthcoming biopic

Considering his achievements and the character of the man behind them, it’s almost a travesty that Hollywood hasn’t made a credible attempt to re-tell Enzo Ferrari’s life story. However, a biopic centring on Il Commendatore now looks to be closer than ever, as Robert de Niro recently confirmed…

According to a recent interview cited by English newspaper The Guardian, 71-year-old Hollywood legend Robert de Niro has confirmed his role as Old Man Ferrari in the new film, to be simply entitled ‘Ferrari’. “It is an honour to tell the life of an extraordinary man who revolutionised the world of motor sport,” he was quoted as saying. “The film will go into production soon, mostly in Italy, and has absolute priority over all my other projects.” What’s more, there are whispers that Clint Eastwood would handle directorial duties, should he be satisfied with the script. Here’s hoping it lives up to the almost three-decade wait.
