Porsche Panamera V6

These two won’t be at Geneva – but they will appear at the Beijing motor show the following month. The new Panamera and Panamera 4 (offering two- and four-wheel drive) feature a new 3.6-litre 300HP V6 engine and will be launched to the public in China on 23 April.

The new engine is remarkably fuel-efficient, promising 30.4mpg Combined for the rear-drive car and 29.4mpg for its all-wheel drive sibling. CO2 emissions are 218g/km and 225g/km, respectively. These figures are helped by the Auto Start/Stop function of the PDK double-clutch gearbox.

The Panamera S and 4S already feature lightweight construction methods, with axles, doors, bonnet, wings and tailgate in aluminium, and this approach will be continued in the new models – but with the added benefit of an engine that is some 30kg lighter than the existing eight-cylinder.

In all, the new Panamera will weigh just 1730kg – not bad for such a performer (though we don’t yet have the new models’ performance figures).

The Porsche Panamera range is now priced from £61,461 for the Panamera, and £66,929 for the Panamera 4 (PDK transmission as standard), including VAT. They should be on sale in the UK from June.
