New Porsche Museum, Stuttgart

Work on the new Porsche museum in Stuttgart is proceeding at full pelt, with construction of the second floor largely finished and all 80 exhibits moved to their new home last week.

Up until now, the vehicles have been stored in a warehouse in Zwingenberg am Neckar, waiting for the museum’s completion. Already on display are, among others, a 356 Cabriolet, an original ‘11’ model and the first prototype of the 924. In addition, the smaller exhibits and show cabinets are now mostly set up, which means that the museum’s lighting can be finalised.

Almost all the cars in the museum are regularly used on the road and are hence replaced by others on a rotational basis, so the exhibits are constantly changing – and visitors will discover different Porsche rarities each time they visit.

Says Klaus Bischof, head of the ‘Rolling Museum’, "In the last few weeks, we have comprehensively restored all the vehicles and polished them up for their use in the museum."
