New Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupé

If you disregard Mercedes’ customarily excruciating press material, there’s probably an embarrassed, but decent little car in the new, C-Class-based coupé which will debut at the Geneva Show.

The latest two-door takes over from the older, unhappily styled ‘C coupé’ and is based on the very latest, updated C-Class platform.

Three petrol, and two diesel engines will be offered from launch. The direct-injection, 306HP/370Nm C 350 BlueEFFICIENCY should give sparkling performance – although not even the most optimistic would believe the Stuttgart manufacturer’s claim of ‘250mph’. I think they mean KILOMETRES per hour.

On UK-specification cars, an AMG Sports Package is standard, featuring sports suspension and speed-sensitive sports steering.

Despite its (inevitably) ‘sporty’ mien, the car is a four-seater. Customers will be able to order the C-Class Coupé from Mercedes dealers next month, with deliveries commencing in June.
