New Hublot Boutique opens in Bond Street, London

Hublot’s irrepressible CEO, Jean-Claude Biver, was joined by tennis legend Ilie Nastase and Time Products Chairman Marcus Margulies this week to unveil the company’s latest watch, the ‘Nastie Bang’, at its newest store, 31 Bond Street.

The brand-new Hublot Boutique is the 36th in the world and the latest in a two-month flurry of openings in Paris, New York, Beverly Hills, Miami and Ginza (Japan). With the Wimbledon tennis tournament in full swing, what better way to celebrate a Grand Slam than announcing a tennis-themed ‘Big Bang’, Hublot’s trademark, super-successful oversize watch?

The ‘Nastie Bang’, so-called after the great Romanian’s nickname at the height of his playing career, will be available in just 132 examples (the number representing each title Nastase won, both in singles and doubles).

Made of black ceramic, the 44mm watch is based on a regular, HUB 4100 automatic-chronograph-movement Big Bang. It features a profile of Nastase in action on the reverse and the dial is decorated with a 60-second sub-dial carrying the legend ‘15 - 30 - 40’. The 30-minute counter (at three o’clock) has a tennis ball motif.

The red and yellow colours reflect the Romanian flag and Nastase’s signature is emblazoned in red under the sapphire glass.
