Now established as a regular pre-Christmas event, the mixture of live stage show, luxury shopping and supercars classic and modern that is the MPH Show expands to an additional venue this year, as well as including in the theatre performance a 3D chase sequence between a Lotus Exige and helicopter gunship.
At the heart of the show is the MPH theatre; an awe-inspiring 75-minute live motoring performance presented by regular British TV motoring personalities Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and Tiff Needell packed with glamour, humour and adrenaline - lots of it. This year MPH has enlisted the talents of John Napier, creative genius famed for Cats, Starlight Express and Les Miserables - so anyone who loves cars, and the spectacle of West End theatre, is in for a treat.
As well as the Exige vs helicopter set-piece, there will be a battle to the death in off-road buggies between evil villains and a lone hero, and some of the best precision driving in the world. All of this will be presented against a back drop of spectacular lighting and pyrotechnics. As for the humour, just watch Jeremy, Richard and Tiff try their hand at car football. Yes, really.
On stage amongst the stunts and screaming engines, there’ll be a procession of the finest prestige and performance cars ; many making their public debut UK appearance including the new Jaguar XK, the Saleen S7 Twin Turbo, the Gumpert Apollo, the TVR Tuscan Convertible as well as the Mercedes SLR McLaren, the Noble M400, the Marcos TSO GTS, the Lotus Exige 240R and the Invicta S1 to name a few.
MPH is more than just the theatre performance, there will be the MPH Gallery, with around 100 of the world’s most amazing new cars, plus the Classic MPH Gallery featuring the Octane Hall of Fame; a display of iconic classics: tourers, racers and roadsters. The Dunlop Style Piazza is an area where you can browse exclusive designer boutiques featuring a selection of world renowned luxury brands or relax in the ultra stylish champagne bar.
At Earls Court there will be Cars for Sale from Classic Driver dealers such as Nicholas Mee and Frank Dale and Stepsons, and Classic Driver will be present with a stand displaying a typical car from the Classic Driver Car Database - as usual, only the very best.
The organisers say it’s "loud, fast, sexy and at times dangerous. You'll love it!" If you like the humour and oddball thinking of the regular Clarkson TV programmes, as well as the chance to see some truly wonderful cars on display, we wouldn’t disagree.
The show runs at the NEC in Birmingham from the 10 -13 November, and will be at Earls Court in London from 17 - 20 November.
