More Than 150 Corvettes to Cross the Block at Mecum’s 2011 Florida Sale

1969 Chevrolet Corvette L89 427/435HP

Corvette enthusiasts would do well to head due east after the mid-January Scottsdale sales, as auctioneer Mecum will offer an extraordinary number of the iconic American sportscars at its Kissimmee, FL sale.

Entries include highly collectable lots, such as the one of only 89 produced, 4-speed 1969 Chevrolet Corvette L89. The L89 packs a 400+bhp 427 engine with aluminium heads – a rarity and borne, in part, by General Motors' covert motor racing programme. Finished in Riverside Gold, with optional black leather trim and Soft Ray tinted glass, the big coupé benefited from an expert restoration in the 90s.

In the last 10 years, it has covered just 2900 miles and, offered at ‘No Reserve’, presents a perfect opportunity to buy a matching-numbers, limited-edition 'Vette: always of interest to collectors.

Other Corvettes include a 1969 ZL1 Coupé Replica (complete with an all-alloy, big-block engine) and a 1968 L88 Convertible.

It’s not all cars, however, as another entry in the 1750-lot, five-day sale is a 1996 Riva Aquarama Special, the last example (hull #774) sold to the public.
