November will see the launch of a new, limited-edition Porsche Cayman S, initially in Germany but spreading to Europe and the U.K. over the winter. The Cayman S ‘Porsche Design Edition 1’ uses extensive design elements in black, including a black exterior, to emphasise the “purist nature of the 295bhp sports car”.

There is black leather and Alcantara upholstery, harmonising with further details such as the instrument dials, while even the centre console, dashboard and door trims are in glistening black. The three-spoke sports steering wheel, gearlever, handbrake grip and roof-lining are all clothed in non-slip black Alcantara, while the Porsche logo is embossed on the headrests.



The body of the limited-edition model has been lowered by 10mm and, with the standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) which controls the stiffness of the dampers, there is a Sport mode activated at the touch of a button for a more dynamic driving feel. Five-millimetre spacers and 19-inch turbo wheels give the Cayman S Porsche Design Edition 1 a particular ‘presence’, reinforced by the 235/35 ZR 19 tyres at the front and 265/35 ZR 19 tyres at the rear.



The Porsche Design Studio, created by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche 35 years ago, has become a top international name in industrial design, luxury items and consumer goods. Hence standard equipment on the new, limited-edition Cayman S includes an elegant briefcase containing the Flat Six Chronograph, a pocket knife, a pair of sunglasses, a pen and a key ring – all in black (even the knife blade), in keeping with the car’s colour theme. Only 777 examples of the Cayman S Porsche Design Edition 1 are being built, each one individually identifiable by a badge on the lid of the glovebox.
