Geneva, 3 March 2008: Lamborghini has unveiled the latest version of its most successful model to date. The new LP560-4 – the first revision since the Gallardo was launched in 2003 – is leaner, meaner yet greener than the original: 20kg lighter, 39bhp more powerful and 18% more fuel-efficient. The gleaming white chosen for the Geneva car showcased the sleek, aggressive lines to perfection.
The LP560-4 designation reflects the new permanent four-wheel drive transmission and the increased engine output from the new 5.2-litre 560PS (552bhp) engine. This, together with optimised aerodynamics and new suspension, allow the new Gallardo to comfortably outperform its predecessor on the road. The 10-cylinder engine takes it from zero to 62mph (100km/h) in just 3.7 seconds, and it needs just 11.8 seconds to hit 200km/h.
Lamborghini President Stephan Winklemann is confident for the future: “The LP560-4 will consolidate the success story of the Gallardo. It will outclass its predecessor in every aspect; its dynamics are distinctly breathtaking and its design sets new standards.”
