Le Mans 2006 - the Time and the Place

The Friday of the Le Mans 24 Hours weekend is set aside for meeting and greeting, and promotions involving the teams while the mechanics carry out final preperations for the following day's start. A key event is the parade of drivers in classic or supercars in the old city centre, and this year saw the first appearance of a Ferrari FXX, spectacularly painted blue.

The organisers, Classic Automotive, had to set out a new route for the parade because of the extensive road works for the Le Mans tramway system in construction. But as always the event proved to have a carnival atmosphere as the crowds mingled in 30 C heat with the drivers travelling in exotic motorcars of all ages and from all parts of the world.

Demonstrating the synergy between watch-making and high-performance motor cars, Bell & Ross were supporting the event and showing two models that they feel best represent the crossover of 'time' and 'speed'; the SPACE 3 Titanium and BR 01 INSTRUMENT Titanium chronometers.

Alongside the Bell & Ross Hummer were examples of supercars from Lamborghini, Koenigsegg, Pagani, Aston Martin and Porsche together with ultra-rare cars from Ferrari (the navy FXX) and Maserati (MC12 road car). Peugeot also had their 907 V12 concept car from the 2004 Paris Motor Show.
