Lamborghini Concept S at Geneva

21 February 2005 - Automobili Lamborghini will unveil the Lamborghini Concept S, a revolutionary new concept car derived from the Gallardo, at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show in March.

Created by Luc Donckerwolke, head of design at the Centro Stile Lamborghini in Sant Agata, Bologna, the Concept S is an extreme expression of Lamborghini styling. Donckerwolke drew inspiration from the classic single-seater racing cars of the past to create his interpretation of an open cockpit car. Like the 350 GTS and the Miura Roadster, the Lamborghini Concept S is the only one of its kind.

One of the main features of the classic racecars, the sauté-vent windscreen, has been developed by Donckerwolke and now gives the Concept S its aggressive and futuristic look. The small screen, which directs air over the driver’s head, divides the cabin into two compartments creating a space between them that acts as an additional air inlet for the powerful mid-mounted engine.

Front and rear spoilers and a large rear diffuser optimise the aerodynamics of the Concept S, and an electronically controlled, retractable central mirror provides the driver with rear viewing capability.

With no plans for production, the Concept S will remain Lamborghini’s unique expression of an open cockpit vehicle.
