The Jewel that is Jordan III

The Jewel that is Jordan is a unique event that the biggest car connoisseurs could wish to take part in. It is a spectacular motoring tour; a voyage into the history of the bible, which takes you through some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world, The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is truly breathtaking!!

The event was founded in 2003 by the entrepreneur Jonathon Lyons, who must be one of the most knowledgeable connoisseurs in the automotive world of exclusive cars; his love for Jordan and its people prompted him to share the country and its beauty with his fellow classical cars enthusiasts.

The Jewel that is Jordan I took place in October 2003. Forty-four rare and classic cars began the Tour from the Red Sea port of Aqaba, the duration of which was 14 marvellous and enjoyable days; participants included Lord Montagu of Beaulieu (whose 1914 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost Alpine Eagle was the older car present), Lord Cope of Berkeley and Lady Cope (in their 1936 Bentley MX), Buzz Aldrin (second man on the moon)and Mrs Aldrin, Patty Hearst and her family (to name a few).

The enormous success of the event gained a lot of media coverage in well known magazines, newspapers, and on a travel documentary in the Sky Discovery Channel during the months of December 2004 and January 2005.

Continuing with this unique motoring adventure, "The Jewel" went back to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in September 2005, this time with fifty-six precious vintage vehicles. This second Jewel of Jordan motoring event, under the patronage of HRH Prince Feisal Al-Hussein and Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, enjoyed another enormous success, again attracting very favourable media coverage and interest.

With emphasis once more on luxury and style, The Jewel that is Europe was formed and took place in May 2006 (another huge success). From Château de Montfort in Perigord Noir region of France to Palazzo Ducale di Montforte near the Amalfi coast of Italy. Each evening participants enjoyed the facilities of an iconic property, while sampling the best regional cuisine and wine. For the grand finale, the classic cars were given unprecedented access to the immense gardens of the Royal Palace at Caserta, built by Charles IV to a rival the palaces at Versailles and Escorial.

The success of these three spectacular events has created a demand amongst connoisseurs of classic car tours that the "The Jewel" should return to Jordan once again.
