The new limited-edition lightweight sports coupé from Jaguar – which goes on sale in the summer – is the fastest production XK to date and, indeed, the fastest Jaguar since the XJ220. Not only has the engine management system of the XKR’s 4.2-litre supercharged V8 been recalibrated to deliver a higher top speed (now electronically limited to 174mph: 19mph more than the XKR), but extensive changes to the suspension and steering have been adopted to fine-tune the ride and handling.
Changes to the exterior styling include a modified front air-splitter and side sill-extensions, revised rear spoiler and rear bumper with diffuser panel, plus unique 20in lightweight Vortex alloy wheels.
The limited-edition series comes with Ultimate Black metallic body paint and a contrasting finish to the grille, sills, side power vents and rear diffuser. The XKR-S also boasts the most powerful brakes of any production Jaguar and the red monobloc six-piston calipers, with 400mm front discs and 350mm discs at the rear, are a visual as well as a technical treat.
Inside the cabin, there’s full soft-grain leather with contrast stitching, adjustable seat bolsters, Piano Black veneer, Charcoal Alston luxury headliner and a Bowers & Wilkins 525W surround sound system. Production will be limited to just 200 cars, available only in Europe, in both left- and right-hand drive forms.
