It's 'Barn-Find' Time: DB5 unearthed for Bonhams' 2013 Aston sale
They always do well at Bonhams’ annual Works Service sales, so the announcement that the Bond St house has consigned a ‘for restoration’ 1964 DB5, in single ownership since 1972, will have collectors predicting: “I bet that will go for a lot…”
And they’ll probably be right. The car — bought for £1,500 in 1972 — is “in need of restoration”, according to Bonhams. But (despite a mouse’s nest in the engine bay) after careful preparation the big straight-six was fired up recently, much to the delight of its late owner’s family.
With fully restored DB5s commanding prices in excess of £250,000, this time-warp example is estimated at £150,000 - 200,000.
