The Swinging Sixties were the inspiration behind Glashütte Original’s ‘Senator Sixties’ range and a new handmade timepiece from Germany, just added to the line-up, now aims to symbolise the joie de vivre of that era.
The new Senator Sixties Chronograph attracts the eye with its convex sapphire crystal front and similarly domed dial. Skeletonised hands glide across a satin-finished face, while the diamond-cut hour markers feature glowing dots of Super-LumiNova, and numerals in a design which harks back to the ’60s.
The chronograph totalisers are placed at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions, with polished silver zones ensuring the counters integrate into the overall design. Rounded buttons on the side of the case activate the start and stop functions.
The shaped sapphire crystal case, familiar from other Senator Sixties models, gives a clean view of the automatic manufacture Caliber 39-52 with its three-quarter plate, swan-neck fine adjustment and double sunburst decoration, plus – for the first time – a side view of the rotating oscillating weight in 21-carat gold.
The strap is in crocodile skin, the refined scales completing the retro design. For further information see www.glashuette-original.com.
