Ferrari Daytona Celebrates 40 Years

Running alongside the magnificent array of races at the Mugello Historic Festival last weekend were extensive celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the fabulous 365 GTB4. One of the most important Ferrari models in the history of the marque, the 365 GTB4 is, of course, universally dubbed Daytona, in honour of Ferrari’s legendary one-two-three finish in the 1967 Daytona 24 Hours.

Twenty of these fabulous classics, with their front-mounted 4390cc V12 engines, took part in a regularity event along the road route of the Circuito delle Tre Provincie, the last race in which Enzo Ferrari competed as a driver.

The participating Daytonas, which arrived from as far afield as Africa and the USA, followed the regularity route over the Abetone pass, through Fiesole, Lucca and Florence, to Mugello. The Daytona celebrations culminated in a parade on the Scarperia circuit on the Sunday of the Festival.
