Coys’ 2011 sale at the Oldtimer Grand Prix mixes competition cars such as this ex-Giotto Bizzarrini, 1965 Bizzarrini Competizione with timeless classics from Austin-Healey, Jaguar, Porsche and more.
The big silver car is currently in race trim but could, so Coys catalogues, “easily be returned to road specification resulting in a truly fabulous and exciting entry into any number of touring events around the world”. The great engineer’s connection with this very chassis is validated by “copies of documents from Giotto Bizzarrini himself, confirming his ownership of the car”. It has current FIA papers; 'Refer Dept.' for price, please.
In a similar vein, the sale also lists a fine 1967 Iso Grifo (195,000 - 250,000 euros, and Coys has done well with these cars in recent years) and, more up-to-date, not one but two Maserati MC12s. The 2006 MC12 Corsa (No. 1 of 12, at 700,000 - 850,000 euros) is the amazing track-only version while the 2006 MC 12 Stradale, at an altogether more affordable 570,000 - 650,000 euros, is ready for the autobahns right away.

The purely competition car entry includes a 1965 Lola T70-Chevrolet Spyder Mk II (250,000 - 300,000 euros) and an ex-Team Oreca Dodge Viper Le Mans car. Now, remember this moment: the possibility of buying a genuine ex-Le Mans car, the 1996 Dodge Viper GTS-R driven to fifth place by Justin Bell, John Morton and Pierre Yver in 1997, all for a most reasonable 60,000 - 70,000 euros. In years to come there might be some collective “Now, I wish I’d...” about this.

There’s also a complete and ready to run, 1992 Ferrari F92A/644 F1 car, ex-Jean Alesi and estimated at 390,000 - 450,000 euros.
Away from the track, the LHD 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 3.5 Cabriolet (130,000 - 150,000 euros) is always a favourite in the Classic Driver office, while we also have a fondness for Porsche 924 Carrera GTs, Coys having a 1980 example (35,000 - 40,000 euros) in the auction.

Aston aficionados will be interested in the left-hand-drive 1959 Aston Martin DB Mark III, a car to Vantage specification from new and competitively estimated at 160,000 - 180,000 euros.
There are just three pre-War cars in the sale, comprising a 1937 Jaguar SS100 2 ½ Litre (with its original engine, a 'Refer Dept.' entry) and two Riley Imps, a 1934 for 85,000 - 90,000 euros and a 1935 at 75,000 - 85,000 euros.

Elsewhere in the catalogue you’ll find some reasonably estimated racing Porsche 911s, a couple of racing De Tomaso Panteras and ‘Lot 112 - 1991 McLaren MP4/6 - ex-Ayrton Senna Championship Winning Car’.

Now, before you think this is an actual F1 car, please have a look at the catalogue. It is, in fact, a sculpture in the form of a plastic kit (‘Airfix’ for those with long memories) which was created with the cooperation of Ron Dennis and McLaren, by sculpture student Jay Burridge.
As the ultimate office, ‘den’ or garage decoration it takes some beating, and its estimate of 35,000 - 45,000 euros is not unreasonable, particularly with the critically acclaimed film ‘Senna’ showing in the cinemas right now.
