Seventy odd car lots feature on Coys’ visit to the Royal Horticultural Halls on 28th of July. Included in the Sale is a large part of the German Montabaur Collection, which comprises mainly British cars, including several pre and post-war MGs. In addition Coys have once again assembled a list of cars for every size of pocket with Jaguars, Ferraris and Porsches aplenty.

The 1956 Porsche 356B Coupé looks nice at £12,000 – 14,000. A left hand drive example it has the T6 bodyshell, complete with twin rear engine grilles, and is still on its original drum brakes. Another LHD 356 in the sale is a 1959 356 SC Cabriolet, £22,000 – 28,000. Finished in Red with Tan hood and black trim its Cabrio status immediately adds value to the estimate but in your author’s opinion the black coupé is a more attractive buy.

‘Refer Department’ is quoted for the 1956 Bentley Continental S1 Drophead Coupé by Park Ward. Painted in Burgundy with Tan interior and hood the car is an elegant boulevardier fit for continental touring.

The Lotus XI pictured above is from the Montabaur Collection. A 1958 S2, the 1460cc Climax-engined car comes with UK issued FIA papers and is reported to be an ideal entrant into any of the 1950’s sportscar events worldwide. Estimated at £50,000 – 60,000, in good fettle on the track it should be right up there with the best of them. Other cars from the Collection include a 1936 MG PA Supercharged, £18,000 – 22,000, a 1931 MGF2, £18,000 – 22,000 and a 1962 MGA Mk II Roadster, £14,000 – 16,000.
