Coppa Milano-Sanremo – March 2004
The organisers have already recieved over 150 entries for the second historical revival of the Coppa Milano-Sanremo scheduled to take place from 12 to 14 March 2004, organized by MAC Events in collaboration with Meet Comunicazione and with the support of the Milan Automobile Club.
The cars already entered represent a priceless fleet: numerous Alfa Romeos, including a few rare 6Cs, a 4.5 litre 1928 Bentley, a 1937 Jaguar SS100 and many other English cars dating from the 1930s. The race would not be complete without a true work of art like the 1950 Cisitalia 202B, as well as a number of Bugattis, a 1955 Gullwing Mercedes-Benz 300SL, a 1966 Ferrari 275GTB and other important "pieces" from the Maranello manufacturer. From America come such classics as a 1947 Buick Super Eight Convertible.
While the organizers are deciding on all the final technical and logistical details, the ancillary events which will accompany the race are also taking shape. In 2004 another "special touch" is being organised in parallel by the prestigious Milan Vintage Car Club (C.M.A.E.).
Their event pays tribute to the car and bodywork companies of Milan, in the shape of an exhibition of outstanding cars. The fruit of the talent and hard work of illustrious business people and designers, they will be placed in a unique setting of great appeal like the Piazza del Duomo. The creativity of Alfa Romeo, Isotta Fraschini, Bugatti (Ettore Bugatti, as we all know, was born in Milan), Zagato, Touring Superleggera, Boneschi, Sala, Colli, Castagna and Riva, which put Milan on the world map, will provide a stunning backdrop for the passage of the cars taking part in the Coppa Milano-Sanremo.
The Isotta Fraschini belonging to the Milan Firefighting Corps will also be invited to take part in the exhibition.
