Snapshot, 1971: Mick Jagger is in the mood for champagne

It’s 12 May 1971, and Mick Jagger is on run from the British tax authorities on the French Riviera, accompanied by his new wife Bianca Pérez-Mora Macias. Alas, the champagne will not last long…

The cream of show business and over 100 reporters descended on St. Tropez’s town hall to witness the marriage of Mick Jagger and Bianca Pérez-Mora Macias and, needless to say, the Rolling Stones frontman is in high spirits as he and his bride head to the reception. Jagger isn’t the only one indulging in the champagne, though – his band mate Keith Richards has been going with such gusto that he’ll spend the coming evening entirely horizontal. Bianca, however, is not in such a celebratory mood, after a violent argument with Jagger over their freshly signed wedding contract. Needless to say, the wild-dog-like paparazzi are not helping. Later on, she’ll go on to utter the famous line, “My marriage ended on my wedding day”, but not before, we imagine, one of the more memorable parties in rock history.
