Until recently, car enthusiasts had to rely solely on local mechanics to look after their classics. For this reason many did not venture into the Engadine, worrying about a breakdown. From last weekend this situation has changed; “Volante Classic Car Engadin” opened its doors and presented itself to the public at an event that was attended by over 200 enthusiasts.

Racing legends Jochen Neerpasch and Ernst Schuster were part of last weekend’s meeting and Neerpasch was reunited with an original Porsche 907 of the type he won the 1968 Daytona 24 Hours – a victory that was significant being the very first overall win for the marque. Ernst Schuster, a regular long-distance driver of the 1980s and ‘90s, together with Jochen Neerpasch gave an insight into life at the top of the racing world.



The company Volante offers customers restoration, repairs, service and storage for classic cars carried out by trained craftsmen. Treatment with Swizol® paint and leather products is carried out in the perfect sunny and dry climate of the Upper Engadine. Volante can also offer services for customers all over the world.

Volante puts an emphasis on style and ‘living the dream’, evolving into a meeting point for the local classic car scene. A regular highlight are the ‘dinner cruises’ every other Thursday evening from St. Moritz-Samedan. Volante is situated in the historic building of the former Palu-Garage in Samedan at the western entry to Samedan, coming from Celerina on the old road. Beneath the workshop there is a show room offering a location for events and product presentations by third parties in an exquisite environment of automotive classics.
