Christie's at Rétromobile 2006

Christie's now customary Sale at Rétromobile Paris in February is beginning to to take shape. The 2006 event will include some desirable cars from 'Les Grandes Marques', such as this 1955 Bentley R Type Continental.

Estimated at EURO 160.000 - 220.000, the Bentley has become one of those 'must-have' cars in recent years, aided no doubt by the wonderful Alfred Dunhill sponsored day at Silverstone in 2002 and the 'magnum opus' on the subject published by Palawan at the end of 2003.

Other entries include the ex-Sir Peter Ustinov 1954 Aston Martin DB2/4 DHC, estimated at EURO 75.000 - 125.000, and the ex-Elio de Angelis and Bruno Giacomelli 1979 BMW M1 Procar, estimate EURO 285.000 - 345.000. The former looks a nice car in its right (not to mention its one-time ownership by the creator of the "The Grand Prix of Gibraltar!", and serious motoring enthusiast to boot), while the latter is a car from the era when GP drivers were not only real Men (despite the long hair and unfeasibly tight jeans) but also real Racers, as they competed in the fender-bashing Procar races to support the main events as well. A great car from a forgotten era that can be entered in some nice events now too. Le Mans Classic anyone?
