Chopard Classic Racing Chronograph

Chopard is known for its motorsport-inspired watches: the 1000 Miglia collection, the ‘Jacky Ickx’ and the ‘Grand Prix de Monaco Historique’ are all featured on the watchmaker’s website at www.chopard.com.

And now there’s the Classic Racing Chronograph, of which just 500 examples will be made, featuring an 18-carat rose gold case, an automatic movement with a power reserve of 42 hours, and plenty of automotive inspirations in the styling.

There is, for example, the rubber strap which carries the tread pattern of a 1960s Dunlop tyre; lines engraved on the sides of the case which resemble the ‘ribs’ of a radiator; and the suggestion of a Nardi steering wheel around the crown. The dial carries three separate counters for hours, minutes and seconds, reminiscent of the gauges of an historic racing car, a feeling enhanced by the tachometer styling of the date window at 6 o’clock.

The Chopard Classic Racing Chronograph is a limited series of 500, with each piece priced at 16,650 euros. See www.chopard.com.
