When Alejandro de Tomaso assumed control of Maserati from Citroën in the mid-70s, he soon set about attempting to drag the marque from the depths of the oil crisis. The Argentinian invested in the production of new models - including the Quattroporte III, based on the De Tomaso Deauville. The picture here originates from 1980, and shows him standing proudly in front of the Maserati saloon - but those high spirits wouldn’t last very far into the 90s…
