The best of British at Silverstone Auctions’ NEC Classic Motor Show Sale

Who says patriotism is dead? At Silverstone Auctions’ NEC Classic Motor Show Sale, a number of widely loved classics will go under the gavel, representing the very best of Britain’s automotive heritage. These are our 10 favourites…

With so many British classics featuring in the bumper 96-lot catalogue, selecting just 10 wasn’t a straightforward task. Delivered new to Peter Sellers, the 1966 Lotus Elan (£45,000-50,000) isn’t the tidiest example, but with the Sellers link and revered handling, we’re sure it’ll be snapped up. The Range Rover Convertible we recently featured is arguably the ultimate King’s Road carriage (£35,000-40,000), and no one can dispute the coolness of an RS2600-spec Ford Capri (£26,000-30,000).

Made in the UK

At a more premium price point, we like the elegant Tourmaline Blue Aston Martin V8 Volante (£100,000-115,000), while the 1994 Jaguar XJ220 is curiously alluring. Benefitting from a new paintjob after languishing in the Arabian heat while in the custody of its first owner, the Brunei Royal Family, it’s estimated at a healthy £300,000-350,000. You can find the full catalogue for Silverstone Auctions’ NEC Classic Motor Show Sale, taking place on 14 November at the NEC in Birmingham, listed in the Classic Driver Market.
