10 cars we’d bid on at Silverstone Auctions’ May sale

As to be expected from the British auction house, Silverstone Auctions’ May sale, taking place on the 19th, is filled with a mixed bag of automotive goodies, from ‘90s Italian supercars and British beauties to American competition icons. Here are our top 10…

Our star of the show may have flown under the radar of most – the very first Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth, chassis number one. Its pre-sale estimate of £90,000–120,000 may seem ambitious for such a car, but in recent years, ‘Fast Fords’ have seen something of a renaissance and Silverstone Auctions has been championing them all along. Arguably, this is the car that started it all – the definitive RS500. If older Fords aren’t your thing, there’s also a great UK-delivered GT offered, finished in the evocative combination of white with a blue stripe (est. £270,000–310,000).

If you’re behind the cause to ‘Make Green Great Again’, there are two beautiful emerald examples you won’t want to miss when they cross the block on 19 May. The first, a 1997 Lamborghini Diablo SV (£130,000–150,000), is finished in the rare shade of Verde Mica, while the second, a 1990 Aston Martin Virage (£33,000–38,0000), is resplendent in Buckinghamshire Green. You can find the entire catalogue for Silverstone Auctions’ May sale listed in the Classic Driver Market or, alternatively, find our 10 favourites below.
