On Saturday 9 February 2008, Bonhams France SAS will hold its inaugural motoring sale in Paris, taking on the prestigious slot at Rétromobile which was traditionally held by Christie’s. With this new development, Bonhams now has a presence at all Europe’s premier historic motoring events.
"We are delighted to announce a sale at Rétromobile, as it is Europe’s premier event of its kind,” says James Knight, Bonhams' International Head of Motoring, acknowledging the importance of the show which has been running for 33 years and welcomes over 100,000 visitors from around the world. Next year it runs from 8-17 February at the Paris Expo.
Knight continues, “Bonhams prides itself on offering the most sought-after venues on the auction calendar and Rétromobile is a welcome addition to our worldwide portfolio. It enhances our presence in continental Europe, alongside our traditional sales in Monaco and Gstaad. My European colleagues Matthieu Lamoure and Philip Kantor – who has co-ordinated all previous sales at Rétromobile since 2002 – anticipate a memorable debut sale."
