Over 70 cars feature in Bonhams' businesslike Revival sale catalogue. Top seller is likely to be the ex-Robert Buchet/Ben Pon 1964 Porsche 904 GTS, a potent competition car with exemplary period racing history carrying an estimate of £400,000 - 600,000.
The car in its current form is even more potent, fitted as it has been since the 1970s with a non-original, fuel-injected flat-six 2.8 RSR motor. It’s one of two cars from the veteran French race and rally driver Bernard Consten; the other being a 1965 Alfa Romeo TZ (£240,000 - 280,000), also with (albeit minor) period competition pedigree.
Another red competition car - although this time as British as they come - is ’67 ARX’, the ex-works, Seigle-Morris, Makinen, Hopkirk, Morley twins, 1962 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk II. £150,000 - 200,000 is the estimate on a very nice rally car with a full history file and ownership leading to a plethora of interesting events for any successful buyer.

In addition to the Consten cars, the sale features two other collections of mainly racing machinery. The first comprises an ex-Leyton House 1986 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16V Group A Racing Saloon for £12,000 - 15,000 and three single-seaters, including the ex- Piquet/Nannini/Moreno, 1990-91 Benetton B190 Formula 1 car for £20,000 - 25,000.
The other series of cars comes from a Greek museum, the Alman Collection, and includes some attractive entries such as the rare, ‘G-series’ 1974 Porsche 911SC 2.7-Litre Carrera Coupé (£36,000 - 40,000) and the coda tronca 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta SZ Berlinetta (£120,000 - 140,000).
On the road-car front, you would expect the usual entries of Ferraris, Aston Martins, Porsches and Maseratis. There are two DB5s, an attractively estimated (£65,000 - 75,000) 1965 car that has been the subject of a restoration since 1979(!) by its ex-Works Service engineer owner, and another coupé from that year, this time very well-presented in Silver Birch/Oxblood for a more familiar £120,000 - 150,000.

Ferraris entered include a 1978 512BB for £60,000 - 65,000, while arch-rival Maserati is represented by three rather desirable entries: a 1965 Maserati Mistral Coupé (£30,000 - 35,000), a 1970 Maserati Ghibli 4.7-Litre Coupé (£28,000 - 34,000) and one of the highlights of a catalogue with few pre-War cars, the ex-A.J. Lees, 1931-type Maserati Tipo 8C-2800 two-seater at £250,000 - 280,000.

Finally, for something different, let me leave you with two unusual lots. There’s the c.1930 Rolls-Royce Merry-Go-Round (£25,000 - 35,000) and, perhaps a project for the ex-Aston man now he’s sold the DB5: the 1941 Hawker Sea Hurricane XIIA. £30,000 - 40,000 is the estimate – take a look at what you get for that (below) and start clearing the garage..
Prior to the motor cars, the extensive automobilia section features the The Wisdom Collection and lots 154 - 179, the property of Mrs Bette Hill.
The Sale takes place at the Goodwood Revival on Friday 19th September, with automobilia at 16:00 and motor cars at 18:00.
