Bologna Motorshow 2006

At the 31st Bologna Motor Show, taking place from the 7th - 17th December, there were few world premieres, so we took the chance of taking some atmospheric photos from the location that's at the heart of the Italian supercar industry.

The atmosphere at the show is very relaxed. You are not in a throng of massed journalists, and it's hard to believe that nearly 400 exhibitors are represented, showing over 100 new items. The advantage of course is that a photographer can take pictures without any hassles.

As far as the luxury brands are concerned Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche and Spyker were all present, however it was down to Lamborghini to present a new road model; the new Murciélago LP640 Roadster. The flagship model from Sant'Agata was released only last week as a convertible variant and celebrates its European premiere at Bologna.

Also, mass manufacturers Alfa Romeo, AUDI, BMW and Mercedes Benz were keen to underlined their sporting credentials and had on show the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, AUDI R8, BMW M6 Cabrio and Mercedes Benz SLR 722 Edition respectively.
