The Blenheim Palace Concours d'Elegance

The 80th anniversary of Jaguar is to be celebrated on Saturday July 14th when the third annual Blenheim Palace Concours d’Elegance, is held.

Six cars from the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust collection will be on show together with the latest XKR and there is an open invitation for Jaguar owners across the country to bring their cars along and compete for the Mike Hawthorn Trophy.

The Concours is open to anyone with a classic, vintage veteran or interesting car and is free to enter. Other classes include Post-War Italian sports and GT cars; Pre-War British and Continental Touring cars; Post-War British and Continental Sports and GT cars and The Spirit of Motoring.

“ We started the event so that people with interesting cars could turn up and have some fun, on the day that we hold our Jaguar Legends auction” said Chris Routledge from COYS, “ since then it has snowballed last year more than 160 cars turned up. This year it will be even bigger and we are calling on the owners of cars from across the country to turn up. There is no charge for entry, it is a totally free event.”

Cars from The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust will include: A 1927 Austin Swallow, 1935 SS Airline, 1950 XK 120 (NUB 120 the multiple Alpine Rally winning rally car), the 1954 D Type prototype, 1961 E Type, 77 RW, 1969 XJ6 Saloon S1 (PHP 42G) ex Sir William Lyons and this years XKR.

On the Jaguar front the auction house willing be selling a Jaguar SS recreation estimated at £60,000 to £70,000 and a file of clippings and photographs directly relating to Claude Baily, one of the three men who developed the XK engine. Items include brochures illustrating Jaguar’s SS and saloon range of cars, a blueprint for Edward VIII’s 1900 Daimler, an Austin 7 handbook and other items. Est £100-£200.
