Biofuel Bentley for Geneva Salon Debut

It’s been a long time coming, but the much-trailed, biofuel-powered Bentley will be launched on March 3rd in Geneva.

The Crewe company is, understandably, saving anything but the barest details of the new car for launch day. However, super-rich buyers looking for eco-credibility can expect that it will outperform the colossally fast, 600bhp Bentley Continental GT Speed - yet be cleaner on emissions and CO2.

The biofuel Bentley will deliver “stage one of Bentley's environmental commitment and pioneer the use of this fuel in the luxury sector".

Last year, Bentley Motors announced plans to embrace biofuels as part of a far-reaching, long-term environmental strategy. At the 2008 Geneva Salon it committed to introduce renewable fuels across the entire Bentley range by 2012. This process will be based around the incorporation of ‘FlexFuel’ powertrains. These are engines that can use either biofuel or petrol, with the promise of “dramatically cutting CO2 emissions on a well-to-wheel basis".
