Aston Martin V12 Zagato: 2012 production plans and pricing revealed

The Gaydon-based company confirmed today what the market had been expecting since the Zagato-bodied V12 Vantage made its dramatic debut at Villa d’Este: it will be sold as a road car, with production limited to “up to 150 examples” and a price tag of £330,000 + local taxes. That’s £396,000 in the UK.

One of the racing cars, which was to debut at the Nürburgring just a few weeks later, won the award for Design, in the Concepts and Prototypes class at the Villa d’Este Concours d'Elegance. At the Ring, it was joined by another car and both finished the gruelling 24-hour race.

Orders are being taken on a first come, first served basis and hand-assembly will commence next summer at Gaydon, in the UK. The bodywork features hand-rolled aluminium panels in the best tradition of English coach-building, as well as sections in ultra-modern carbon composite.

Delivery is likely to be towards the second half of 2012.

Commenting on the latest limited-edition Aston, the company’s Director of Design, Marek Reichman, said: "The V12 Zagato is an elegant yet brutal design which reflects the great balance between race performance and pure Aston Martin style.

“The original DB4GT Zagato was a true icon, powerful and graceful; the new design is a true representation of the spirit of DB4GT Zagato. The muscular organic forms define the thoroughbred nature of the car’s racing credentials."
