The Artcurial Auction in Paris 9th February 2008

This year’s auction by Artcurial held during Rétromobile week is entitled ‘The Collectors’ Sale’. The three private collections in question are those of Anglo-Irish Henry Browne of Kilmaine, Belgian Thierry Dehaeck and Frenchman Pierre Veniard.

The Henry Browne of Kilmaine Collection

A member of the organising committee of the 24 Hours race at Le Mans since 1971, the famous collector was president of the Sporting Commission from 1983 to 1992, then vice-president and assistant to the president of the ACO. He also helped in the creation of the Le Mans racing car museum in 1961.

He acquired the five cars catalogued in the sale at the beginning of the 60s, having used them in many races and demonstration runs since. These cars include: a 1904 Brouhot DI, a 1910 Lorraine Dietrich Type SLF, a 1923/27 Salmson Sport Type AL, a 1935 Avions Voisin Type C25 Aérodyne , and a 1906 Lion Peugeot Type VA .
