The Aston Martin Owners Club, which takes pride in delivering a highly varied racing calendar, has announced its plans for 2009. The ever-popular Intermarque Championship (for Ferrari, Jaguar, Sunbeam, Porsche, Austin-Healey, American V8s and, of course, Aston Martins) will be running at all six of the Club’s own race meetings in 2009, alongside the Club Championship – which is split into two separate races, for pre- and post-1960 Astons.

Meanwhile, 1950s sportscar competitors can enjoy a series of team races embracing invited marques from Alfa Romeo, Austin-Healey, AC, Jaguar and Sunbeam Alpine. This year will see a similar series for older, 'V and V' sportscars, which is receiving enthusiastic support from owners of pre-War Bentleys, Lagondas, Alvises, Rileys and the like. Also in the calendar is the Super GT Series, launched in 2007, for heavily modified silhouette GT cars – always guaranteed to enthral spectators with ground-shaking action. Race schedules will also include invited rounds from such popular series as Ferrari Classic, Formula Junior and Thoroughbred GTs.

Says AMOC Comps Chairman, Mark Campbell, “We have a good mix of circuit and speed events, for old and new cars alike. As we’re a ‘not-for-profit’ organisation, our entry fees represent real value for money and maximum track time.”

The St John Horsfall Meeting has always been a highlight of the AMOC season. This year is the 50th anniversary of Aston Martin’s historic win at Le Mans and the Horsfall at Silverstone will be paying tribute with a gathering of around 70 ex-Le Mans Astons – cars that actually competed in the 24 Hours between 1931 and 2008. Also at this meeting will be a special race for FIA-spec pre-1960 front-engined sportscars.

In addition to circuit race meetings, the Club also organises a very competitive Speed Series calling at major venues throughout the UK.
