11th June 2002 Christies at Jack Barclay, Vauxhall, London

Christie’s is holding two auctions during June which will be of great interest to serious car collectors. The first is a general sale of “Exceptional Motor Cars and Automobilia” in London on 11th June.

Timed to coincide with the Jubilee celebrations, Christie's annual summer auction of exceptional motor cars in London pays a tribute to the Best of British Motoring. Each area of British expertise is represented with exquisite examples ranging from the more familiar classics through the luxury transport and competition models.

The absolute highlight for the auction is a rare sports racing Jaguar D Type, a 1956 car which was sold new to Norway where it was raced as part of the Scuderia Askolin.

Other highlights include one of the earliest surviving Minis, an 1959 Austin Seven De Luxe; an Aston Martin DB6; and a 1926 Bentley 3 Litre; and a range of Rolls-Royce including a Corniche Convertible.
