Description

Chassis No. 100.610458

Engine No. 100.664623

Launched in 1955, the Fiat 600 was Italy's answer to post-war mobility-a compact, rear-engine car with room for four and charming styling by Dante Giacosa. Over 2.5 million units were sold by the end of its production in 1969, and it inspired several variants, including the practical Multipla microvan and the playful Jolly.

The Jolly, a unique creation spurred by Fiat chairman Gianni Agnelli, was designed for his yacht, Agneta. Crafted by Italian coachbuilder Ghia, it was a doorless wonder, boasting wicker seats and a fringed surrey top. This distinctive design was perfect for leisurely cruises at upscale Mediterranean resorts. Each Jolly was custom-made and cost nearly twice as much as a regular 600, making it a coveted choice among the elite in the sun-drenched locales of Southern Europe; Aristotle Onassis and Agnelli counted among them. Despite its leisure-focused design, the Jolly 600 features a more powerful 633 cc four-cylinder engine capable of up to 85 km/h. The Jolly was not only a fixture in Europe, 32 were famously used as taxis on California's Catalina Island!

Restored under prior ownership, this 600 Jolly remains a delightful example of the Agnelli concept. Finished in a brilliant yellow, the white fringed surrey top provides the perfect reprieve during sun-soaked trips to the beach, while iconic wicker seats continue the airy summer theme. The car's joyful looks are complete with color-matched wheels shod with whitewall tires and simple chrome hubcaps.

Far more than a beachside curiosity, the Fiat 600 Jolly captures the essence of mid-century Italian glamour with its inherent simplicity and charm, making every drive a truly smile-inducing experience. With its custom Ghia coachwork, wicker seats, and sun-soaked surrey top, it embodies the charm of Europe's golden summers and remains a timeless symbol of la dolce vita today.
