Employing Raden-Maki-e, pieces of abalone are inlaid to create the flowers, ducks are made with the Urushi japanese lacquer and gold flecks serve to highlight the picturesque scene. Raden is also used as a textural application along with gold flecks as seen with the image of maple leaves to the right. Mandarin ducks represent fidelity and the strong bond of love. Fine medium 18ct gold nib imprinted with Mt. Fuji in a white platinum wash and the Namiki pentagon. Includes original wooden box, packaging and ink bottle.
